After depleting kyiv in major cities, Russia proceeds to new methods of warfare in Donbass
Russia will implement new methods of warfare, Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu said. CASS reports.
“The implementation of new methods of warfare will make it possible to better adapt the troops”, declared the minister to the executive board of the department.
He did not specify what kind of new methods of warfare he was talking about.
Shoygu noted that Russia would develop the army and navy to better adapt to modern conditions of “armed confrontation”. The Northern Fleet alone will receive more than 500 units of modern weapons in 2022, which will increase its combat readiness by 1.5 times, he said.
Siege of Azovstal: opening of the humanitarian corridor
The Russian Defense Ministry has announced the opening of a humanitarian corridor for the exit of Ukrainian forces from the territory of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, said the head of the National Defense Control Center of Russia, the Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
According to the Defense Ministry’s Telegram channel, the corridor opened from 2:00 p.m. Moscow time.
The Russian Armed Forces are systematically carrying out their tasks to liberate the people’s republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also said at the meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense, reports Interfax.
“The plan for the liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics is being implemented consistently, steps are being taken to establish a peaceful life,” Shoygu said.
He also noted that the events of the past few months clearly show how important it is for Russia to continuously improve its military.
Russia launched the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Russian military will work to defend the people of Donbass against acts of “genocide” carried out by the authorities in kyiv, as well as to “denazify” and “demilitarize” Ukraine. Shortly before that, Putin had announced the recognition of the LPR and the DPR. The parliaments of the republics have ratified the treaty of friendship and cooperation with Russia.
At the end of March, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the main tasks of the first stage of the special operation had been completed. The combat potential of the Ukrainian armed forces has been significantly reduced, said Colonel-General Sergei Rudskoy, head of the main operational department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. According to him, this will allow the Russian army to “focus its main efforts on achieving the main goal – the liberation of Donbass.”
The Russian Defense Ministry also said it had completed the tasks in the Kyiv and Chernigov directions. At the first stage of the operation, Russia intended to get kyiv to concentrate its forces on fighting for major cities. Then Russia planned to take the next stage of the military operation to prevent Kyiv from using forces in Donbass.
