EU import quota for Turkish rebar is exhausted in the new quota period

EU import quotas on certain steel products for four countries have been exhausted for the new quota period which began on July 1 and will end on September 30, according to data from the European Commission.

Import quotas of rebar and stainless steel cold-rolled sheets and strip for Turkey of 90,856 t and 20,046 t respectively were exhausted as of July 1. The import quotas of hollow sections and organic coated sheets of 94,689 t and 15,126 t respectively for the country were also exhausted on the same day. The country’s quotas which are in critical condition are gas pipes and non-alloy merchant bars and other alloys and light sections, with the remaining quotas standing at 1,352 mt and 6,300 mt respectively as of July 13.

Regarding other countries that have exhausted their quotas for certain products, for China, the import quotas of magnetic sheet and metal coated sheet of 29,777 mt and 123,409 mt respectively have been exhausted as of July 1.

The import quotas of organic coated sheets, stainless steel light bars and sections and stainless steel wire rod of 75,642t, 30,542t and 7,103t respectively for India were exhausted as of 1 July.

Meanwhile, for Taiwan, the import quota of cold-rolled sheet and stainless steel strip of 44,302 tons was exhausted on July 8.
